This was as ordinary as it gets. The plot was dumb, the action was non-existent, and I don't remember any stunt or special effect. Plus, the ending is a predictable as you get. In short, there was nothing of note.

Don't bother with this garbage. You can spend your life watching better movies. There were multiple problems with the story that ruined it for me. Why would this person agree to this, why would this not be better guarded, why would this person be transporting this item, why would this person be able to hear this sound and so on. And it's not just problems here or there, it's throughout the movie. As well the ending is what you'd expect, sappy and predictable.

This remake of award-winning Icelandic film Reykjavik-Rotterdam lost something in translation. Directed by Kormakur (who incidentally starred, produced and co-wrote the original) stayed true to the story but it somehow came out as another formula film cranked out of the Hollywood Factory under File: Thriller subfile; "One last job" Although not deserving it's brief #1 spot on US box office rating, this re-make captures the realistic atmosphere of the gritty, boozy and corrupt New Orleans. Plot a bit convoluted but that helps you pay attention as the action sequences are strung together. Wahlberg could do this role in his sleep and at a few points appears to. Caleb Landry-Jones does a great supporting role as the tortured angst-ridden brother-in-law. He deserves bigger leading roles. Watch for him. Over-all it's as entertaining as one would expect but certainly not winning the awards of the original.

When this movie is over, you are going to experience a sensation of déjà vu. There is little about Contraband that hasn't been done before... in some cases, better. That being said, there is nothing offensive about the movie. The characters and director save it by keeping in character and not going overboard. How they got Kate to play Marks' wife is beyond me but they both make it seem plausible. You won't miss much not seeing it on the big screen but it's a good cheap night/rental choice.

Watching this movie was arduous. Dull acting, an irredeemable collection of morally-warped or downright sociopathic characters, cliched storyline, highly improbable events - these elements of the movie make it one huge stinker! It ended up being a long series of events where bad people do bad things to each other. Mark's character was supposed to be the "hero," forced into immoral, criminal acts by the foolish, criminal choices of his young brother-in-law. But at the end of the movie he happily profits from his illegal smuggling, exposing just how thinly veneered his desire to go straight really is. It also stuns me that Mark's character was willing to put his wife and young children in extreme jeopardy in order to extricate a criminal in-law from the consequences of his criminal acts. Pretty screwed-up priorities and values, if you ask me! But this is par for the course in Hollywood where what is evil is often praised as good. Stay away from this miserable flick!

This movie has sort of a Oceans 11 feel mixed with Italian Job and a dash of Street Kings in it. I enjoyed this movie and I'm sure u will too.

Ho Hum. A strong cast but I expected much more. You had the feeing they were sleepwalking through their roles. The "twist" at the end was very predictable and even the potential provided by my favourite U. S. city, New Orleans was ignored by both director and cinematographer. Save your $$$ and download it a week from now on Netflix. Or don't. Whatever.

I'm a big Mark Walberg fan, but I'm an even bigger Giovanni Ribisi fan. Ribisi plays the villian and he plays it so well (like he does with every character) However, Ribisi is hardly in the film. It would have been so much better with more Giovanni. The film is good, alot of actions, some parts are a bit corny. I think it was worth the effort.

I love Mark Wahlberg's acting and I think he has been snubbed by the Academy a few times. This movie is intense and lots of action from beginning to end. Chris (Mark) was a smuggler (gave it up to enjoy a more normal life with his wife and kids) but because of his brother-in-law's stupidity has to join that profession again to save his family from harm. A lot of the movie takes place on a cargo ship which is amazing on how many places one could smuggle things. It does have some comical parts. Good movie.

I will start by saying I am a big Marky Mark fan and can enjoy watching just about anything but Contraband put this theory to its ultimate test. In a word. It is terrible. The story is so ridiculous and far fetched that you must check your brain at the door to believe any moment in the movie could possibly be true. I know it is just a movie but does every single sequence have to be based on some preposterous possibility right down to the final sequence where he can hear a cell phone ring twenty feet away that is being buried by cement and the roar of the cement truck is dizzying! I barely hear my cell phone in my own pocket! How stupid does this movie think their audience is! Well pretty stupid I guess based on some of the reviews shown here. In the end we find ourselves cheering for Mark who has just successfully stolen a one million dollar painting, brought in over a million dollars worth of counterfeit money, and miscellaneous drugs. But don't sweat it, after all he is just a good family man as the movie closes with him playing with his kids. Moronic on every level... don't waste your time or money even on a rental.

A new life with a family and their own legitimate business, crossing the tracks brings bigger risk than reward. Is it worth it, or will those he broke the law with destroy his honest home.
